La Jolla Festival of the Arts Gets New Name, New Location for 30th Anniversary in 2016

SAN DIEGO, Calif. (December 8, 2015) -- For 29 years, the La Jolla Festival of the Arts has brought established and emerging artists to the region, celebrating the best across multiple visual arts categories.  For the event's 30th anniversary in 2016, it is getting both a new name, becoming the San Diego Festival of the Arts, and a new location.

The San Diego Festival of the Arts ( will be held at the Waterfront Park in Downtown San Diego on June 11 and 12, 2016.  Boasting interactive fountains, intimate gardens, harbor views and excellent access to public transit, Waterfront Park has emerged as a quintessential destination for residents and visitors alike.  The 2016 San Diego Festival of the Arts will be the first art event held at the venue.

For three decades, the festival has showcased stunning works of painting, sculpture, photography, glass, jewelry, ceramics, wood, fiber and mixed media from world renowned artists.  In addition to art displays, guests at the 2016 event will enjoy live music and entertainment, a craft beer garden and bites from San Diego’s top restaurants.

Tickets start at $11 with proceeds benefitting adaptive sports programs for San Diegans with disabilities. To date, the festival has raised nearly $2 million in support of more than 30 programs, through which more than 40,000 people with disabilities have participated.  More than $90,000 was dispersed to 24 organizations from 2015 proceeds alone, benefiting over 12,000 individual San Diegans.
